Who has not seen the lovely Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina? This is where Henry Middleton died in 1846. He left three of his sons, the Middleton Place estate, viz: Arthur Henry, John Izard and Edward Middleton, along with all of the cultural properties of every description. The New Port House was directed to be left unsold so long as their mother lived. This was a typical bequest, as special considerations were always given to the surviving spouse. A digital images of the last will and testament is available to members of South Carolina Pioneers
