Elizabeth Smith of Hampstead

The widow Elizabeth Smith of Hampstead in Charleston, South Carolina, owned shares in the South Carolina Bank of Charleston. She also had notes due to her of $3,080 and $1,480.50 from Mr. Foster. When she died in 1846, she bequeathed to her nephew, James Poyas, Sr. those securities. The last will and testament of Elizabeth Smith has been digitized and can be read online by members of South Carolina Pioneers
