Mindet Doodes, the Dutch sea-captain who settled in Virginia, was the ancestor of the Minor family. He apparently transported the dutch soldiers into Virginia after they were captured at the time that New Amsterdam fell into English hands about 1661. In 1666 he (and about 20 other dutchmen) received naturalization papers.
